I am participating in the Small Hands initiative to help with the battle against childhood cancer. I want to raise money so that researchers across Canada can help develop kinder treatments and better outcomes for the 10,000 kids who between them are battling 40 different types of childhood cancers.

Here is my story....

I am 6 years old and will be turning 7 on June 1st, 2008!  I have very, very long hair that is past my knees!  I have had hair cuts before but my hair grows really fast and this is why my mom and dad sometimes call me their little Chia Pet. 

Last summer my big brother and I set up a lemonade stand in front of our house and saved up some money.  My brothers name is Spiro and he is 11 years old.  We didn't want to spend the money on ourselves so we decided to donate it to help less fortunate children.  Spiro also came up with the idea to cut my hair and donate it.  My mom loved this idea as she has gotten really tired of brushing my hair....her arms must be really strong!  My mom then did some research and we decided to raise and donate money to The Childhood Cancer Foundation.  This will go towards helping many children and their families during and after cancer.  I am also donating my hair so that it could go towards making a wig for a child who needs it.  I have enough hair for two or maybe even three hair donations.  You see....to make one wig they need around 10 donations and each one has to be roughly 10 inches long! That is a lot of hair!!!

For my birthday this year I am having a picnic with my friends and family to celebrate and I will also be cutting my hair.  I am cutting it all the way up to my shoulders!  I will really miss my hair...A LOT....but I will feel great knowing that I am helping make another kid happy!  My birthday is on June 1st and I am trying to raise as much money as I can before that.  I've even asked all my guests to make a donation instead of buying me a gift!  Along with my hair donation I want to give as much money as I possibly can!  With your help I think together we can reach my goal and maybe even pass it!
